It has a spot on your counter. Not a drawer, not a shelf — a spot. The same spot, every day. Like a painting that also happens to be the most useful thing in your kitchen.
You go to it. It doesn't come to you.
When you open the fridge and start pulling things out, there's a small moment of anticipation — because you know where you're headed next. The weight of a good knife. Solid wood underneath. The kind of prep that doesn't feel like a chore because the tool you're using is genuinely beautiful and you know it.
Some customers tell us they almost couldn't bring themselves to use it at first. Then they did. And it held up exactly the way it should — still looking great, still feeling right, still the first thing guests notice when they walk into the kitchen.
Take care of it — a little oil every few months — and it will stay that way for a very long time.
The Mosaic Round is a solid hardwood end grain cutting board, handcrafted in Guelph, Ontario. Each board is built from a single species — every block cut end grain up, arranged by hand into a completely random mosaic pattern. No two boards are identical. The natural variation in grain, colour, and ring pattern does the work. The result looks handcrafted. Because it actually is

Choose Your Wood
Each board is made from a single species — every block the same wood, cut end grain up, arranged into a mosaic that lets the natural variation in grain, colour, and ring pattern do the work.
Walnut — Dark chocolate heartwood, warm caramel sapwood, swirling end grain rings. No two boards read the same. Quietly dramatic in the best way.
Heirloom Maple — Warm golden-amber with natural character marks, mineral streaks, and occasional colour variation. This is not a clear white maple — it's the kind of wood that gets more beautiful with every re-oil. Natural variation is a feature, not a flaw.
White Oak — Warm golden tan with tight, straight grain from rift sawing. Naturally water resistant and the rarest cut in our collection. Clean and contemporary.
Choose Your Thickness
2" Classic — The standard for serious end grain boards. Substantial, beautiful, and built to last
3" Heirloom — The statement piece. Noticeably heavier, more impressive in hand, and the thickness that makes people ask where you got it. The board you pass down.
How We Finish Every Board
- Sanded to 180 grit before finishing
- Submerged in food-grade white mineral oil for 7 to 10 days — watched daily until the wood completely stops drawing in oil
- Polished finish after oiling
- Finished with Clapham's Salad Bowl Beeswax on all surfaces
- Wood feet installed on every board
Your board arrives ready to use. We recommend leaving the beeswax on for 48 hours after delivery to let the wood settle into your home before first use.
To maintain: a light re-oil with food-grade mineral oil every few months. We've put together a Legacy Care Kit with exactly what you need — no guesswork.
Why End Grain?
- The surface is forgiving — knife marks tend to close up over time rather than accumulate
- Gentler on knife edges than face grain or plastic
- Absorbs and releases moisture evenly
- Every board has a completely unique pattern
