About Us
The Hand Behind the Grain
I believe that whether it’s a centerpiece for your table or a fixture for your home, hardwood should be a hardworking piece of art.
I am the sole maker behind Studio 5 Woodworking. From my workshop in Guelph, Ontario, I personally handle every step of the process—from the initial rough cut to the final, hand-burnished coat of beeswax. I specialize in high-end, functional woodwork, ranging from my signature Studio 5 end grain cutting boards along with a wide range of other types of cutting boards, Live edge floating shelves and entryway hall tree organizers, along with custom orders
The Material & The Method
My work is defined by the character of the wood I select. I work primarily with premium Canadian hardwoods, including Walnut, Maple, White Oak, Quartersawn Oak, Hickory, and Cherry. * Technical Precision: I treat every piece with the same mechanical rigor I use for fine furniture, ensuring every surface is engineered for stability and longevity.

The Mosaic End grain cutting board Logic: My mosaic series is born from a desire to turn premium workshop off-cuts into functional masterpieces, manually sorting hundreds of individual pieces to ensure no two boards are ever identical.
Quality you can see starts with what you can’t. Every Studio 5 board undergoes a full-immersion deep soak. I submerge my boards in food-grade mineral oil until the wood fibers are completely saturated. This "until it's drunk" method prevents warping and cracking, locking in the wood’s dramatic natural colors for a lifetime of use.
From my hands in Guelph to your home—thank you for supporting independent Canadian craftsmanship.
