The Studio Floor — A Studio Original, Built Once, Gone When It Sells

Every project leaves something behind.

Off-cuts. End pieces. A slab too short for a commission but with a grain pattern that stops you mid-step. Wood with colours that speak — chocolate walnut with a streak of amber, cherry that glows like it’s lit from inside. We can’t throw it away. We’ve tried.

The Studio Floor is what happens when the off-cuts win. Each board here was rescued from another build, finished the same way we finish everything — mineral oil until fully saturated, Clapham’s beeswax, rubber feet — and put here before it took up any more space in the shop.

Nature made these. We just got out of the way.

	Board No. 1 — Walnut End Grain 16.5” × 10” × 1.5” — CA$225 Classic end grain construction with a tight, symmetrical mosaic pattern — the kind of board that looks like a piece of art sitting on your counter. Deep juice groove routed around the full perimeter. Tapered edges. Rubber feet. Fully saturated in mineral oil and sealed with beeswax before leaving the shop. 1 available.
	Board No. 2 — Walnut Face Grain 16” × 10” × 1.75” — CA$235 The thickest board on the floor at 1.75” — substantial in the hand and on the counter. Dramatic flowing cathedral grain pattern that runs the full length of the board. Deep juice groove, tapered edges, rubber feet. The extra thickness makes this one feel like a serious tool. 1 available.
	Board No. 3 — Walnut Face Grain 16” × 10” × 1.5” — CA$245 This is the board that stopped us mid-build. Wild swirling grain with natural character marks — knots and checks right in the centre that most makers would cut around. We didn’t. Those marks are what make this piece unrepeatable. For the buyer who wants something genuinely unlike anything else. 1 available.
	Board No. 4 — Walnut Face Grain 16.5” × 10” × 1.5” — CA$250 The showstopper of this set. Four sections of repeating concentric rings run across the face of this board like a topographic map — completely hypnotic, impossible to replicate. Deep juice groove, tapered edges, rubber feet. The kind of board people pick up at a dinner party and ask about. 1 available.
